Greetings,
I so love to hear from those of you who have become owned by a
Bengal! The wonderful tales of adventure, mischief, and just plain
fun really make my day.
One example is this note I got from Rob in Virginia. “Maggie is
doing great. She loves to play fetch with those feathered toys that
jingle. This can go on for hours. Today she took a flying leap into
the bathtub. I didn't believe a cat really could like water and
figured she would never step foot near the bathroom again - but she
decided to take one more flying leap. Now she's trying to lick
herself dry on a comforter. I don't have the heart to tell her it's
the comforter drying her off, not her tongue.”
And Shirley in San Francisco wrote this, “I just want you to know
how much I love little Binx. If you ever need a reference for your
babies believe me I will give you a good one as you have adorable
kittens. I wish you would tell me what makes Binx “pet quality” as
opposed to “show” or “breeder quality.” If you asked me I would say
he is as beautiful as any show cat or breeder I have seen but I am
prejudiced.”
Ashlee in Marietta, GA writes, “Jinks is doing very well I just
love him so much. He is everything I wanted in a cat and so much
more. He is a sweetie pie. He sleeps in the bed with us and he has a
little toy mouse that he carries around with him all the time. He
also can’t wait until I take a shower. He always gets in there with
me and sits in the back of the shower and plays with the water. He
loves to sit on the toilet and rest so we have to keep the toilet
lids closed. My little girl just loves him to death. Thank you so
much! He brings such joy to my life and my families’ life.”
Of course, we have a few “Bengal” experiences ourselves. Cathy
and I eat in the living room often now that our children are grown
and out on their own. As soon as we sit down, here they come – they
are trying to get onto the plate to check out the food, poking their
head into the glass to see what’s to drink. Had a few accidents in
the past, but they are so cute, even funny. What a great job I
have!!
Talking about their antics, one day Cathy made her a sandwich and
sat down in her recliner to eat it, along with some pickles and
chips. In a streak, one of the little ones bounced onto the chair,
grabbed ½ the sandwich in her mouth and was on her way across the
room before Cathy realized what had happened. Of course, we don’t
condone such conduct, but then, they are Bengals!
I must tell you a little about Jack! CH Tailwinds Jack Frost of
Bagheera to be official. I really love this cat! And he loves me! He
loves everyone! He is so romantic that everyone is drawn to him.
He'll love on you as if you're the most precious person this side of
heaven.
The unconditional love one gets from Jack is so heartwarming. If
you listen to his heart, more joyous than his purr, you'll know he
knows 'love' ... and God is love.
If you ask my granddaughter, Ashton, where cats go when they die,
she will quickly respond, "Well, of course cats go to heaven! How
could it be heaven without kittens?" Like, duh! Oh, the wisdom of a
child!
Bye for now. Please let us hear from you.

| IW RW SGC Suwanee Fudge Ripple |
 |
|
IW RW SGC Suwannee Fudge Ripple (“Rip”) is the TICA 2005
International Best Bengal. "Rip" is the son of Wildsafari
Glacier and Greenmansion Woodrose. Best Bengal in the World
for 2005 is only the last of a long string of show ring wins
for this outstanding cat. At just 7 months of age Rip made an
impressive showing at On Safari 2003, winning both the 5th
Best Kitten and the Breeders Choice Best Snow Kitten awards.
In his first adult show at 8 months old he made Grand
Champion, and by his third show he made Supreme Grand
Champion! That is an achievement that very few cats can boast
of.
With only five months showing, he was the 3rd Best Bengal
for the 2003-2004 show year. At On Safari 2004, he was Best
Bengal Cat, Best Bengal Adult Male, and Breeders Choice Best
Snow Adult. He continued to amaze us through the 2004-2005
show year by becoming the International Best Bengal!
I truly regret the circumstances under which I came to be
Rip’s new owner, however I consider it an honor to be the
custodian of such a magnificent example of the Bengal. Larry
talked with me on numerous occasions over the past year,
advising me that he planned to leave Rip to me should anything
happen to him. We talked about Larry’s wishes concerning Rip’s
future. I plan to fulfil Larry’s wishes to the best of my
ability.
Ripple will make an outstanding addition to Bagheera’s
breeding program. Thank you, Larry! I do hope that all of you
will check the web site regularly for the latest news on
Ripple and his offspring.

| Tribute to Larry Snider |
 |
|
Larry, a robust, distinguished, and noble lover of all cats
has been one of the most influential persons in the Bengal
community.
Many of us owe him for his years of service to TICA, the
Bengal breed, and to Bengal rescue, and especially his support
of new breeders. We have learned much at his feet.
While the "court" in which he reigned was one where litter
boxes and feeding bowls were the primary tools, his
contributions to TICA, TIBCS, cat clubs, and members of the
cat fancy in general will be a lasting memorial to this
“catman.”

newspaper
A retired construction supervisor and cattle
rancher, Larry Snider, 67, of Live Oak would stop to feed a
stray, tried to find owners for homeless cats and owned a
prize-winning Bengal named Fudge Ripple, said a friend, Bill
Brown.
Sunday evening, October 23, 2005, Snider was returning home
from a cat show in Green Cove Springs with his champion feline
and six other cats when his vehicle crashed on State Road 100
near the Columbia-Union county line.
Snider died in the accident, which occurred about 5:30
p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The animals,
which were in cat carriers, survived. Brown said they were all
safely recovered and examined after the accident.
Troopers reported Snider was driving west on SR 100 and was
less than a mile west of County Road 239 when his Ford
Explorer drifted off the roadway. The vehicle went into a
ditch and landed on its roof. Snider was not wearing a seat
belt, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
"This man had the greatest passion for cats of any person I
have ever met," Brown said. He recalled how Snider would
travel around the country to cat shows, spot a stray and go
out of his way to feed it. "If anybody were to mistreat a cat,
that's when he would really, really get mad."
Snider bred Bengal house cats and had operated the Suwannee
Valley Feline Rescue program for several years, placing
hundreds of cats with new owners. He would find homes for
Bengals and also for stray or abandoned cats.

Fascinating Cat Facts |
|
|
|
FACT # 1: Cats can make more than 100 different
vocal sounds. Dogs can make about 10.
Fact # 2: The first animated cat was Krazy Kat, a
cartoon strip drawn by George Herriman that made the
transition from paper to film in 1916.
Fact # 3: Cats have twice as many smell- sensitive
cells in their noses as we do, which means they can smell
things we are not even aware of.
Fact # 4: A Spanish stamp commemorating Charles
Lindbergh's record-breaking flight from New York to Paris
showed his cat Patsy watching as his plane took off. Pasty
often accompanied Lindbergh on his flights, but did not go on
the 1930 flight that made him famous.
Fact # 5: All the big cats, including lions, tigers,
and leopards react to catnip just the way our little cats do.
In fact, some zoos give their big cats catnip as part of a
general program of environmental enrichment.
Fact # 6: Cats can judge within three inches the
location of a sound being made one yard away. This is an
essential skill for a predator who needs to catch a mouse
hiding in tall grass.
Fact # 7: Tylenol and chocolate are both poisonous
to cats. See our available kittens! Click
